Egg was founded in 2006 by a group of women who wanted to provide an opportunity to showcase the work of emerging writers with that of established writers.

Little Chick Press operates as the Hatch Collective, a group that publishes Egg Magazine.

A NOTE FROM THE HATCH COLLECTIVE

Submissions are now closed; the Hatch Collective is now selecting and editing the inaugural issue of Egg Magazine. We're working on when Egg will be released. We'll keep you posted... A note about copyright:
All copyright remains with original authors/artists. Permission must be sought directly from the creator to reproduce any work found within Egg Magazine.

By submitting work to Egg Magazine the author/artist is agreeing to have their work published within Egg Magazine.

Please note:
All submissions will be considered for inclusion, however publication of work is at the discretion of the Hatch Collective and submission does not guarantee inclusion.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
THE MANUSCRIPT
Send typed, unpublished material only. No simultaneous submissions to Egg of material submitted to other publications.
  • Poetry: You may submit a maximum of 4 poems.
  • Fiction: Submit a maximum of 1 story, or up to 15 pages of a novel-in-progress.
  • Other: Although fiction and poetry are the main focus of Egg, the Hatch Collective will also consider creative non-fiction.
  • Do not send your only manuscript copy.
  • Use 8 1/2 x 11 paper, one side only. Poetry may be single-spaced; fiction, double-spaced. All copy must be typewritten. Any illegible material will be laughed at and destroyed.
  • Type your name and full address on the title page or first page of each work. On subsequent pages, type your last name and the abbreviated title of the piece.
  • Number every page of a poem or story other than the first page. Use paper clips only. No staples.
  • Please do not send a second submission until the Egg editors (Hatch Collective) have completed consideration of your first one.
  • Approximate turnaround for review of work for publication is three months. Only accepted authors will be notified.
SUBMIT ART WORK
Artwork submissions should consist of:
  • 6 to 10 slides, and black & white prints if available
THE COVERING LETTER
  • Indicate the number of poems, stories, or visual images submitted.
  • Include your full address, postal code, and e-mail.
  • A short artist's/author's biography (up to 50 words)
MAILING
  • A stamped, self-addressed envelope (SASE) is required for any response requiring materials returned. We will not return any material without this. We will not add postage to return materials. Submissions from outside Canada require sufficient International Reply Coupons to cover return postage. Foreign stamps are not valid in Canada for return mail.
RIGHTS
Egg retains first Canadian serial rights only. Copyright remains with the author or artist.
